It's...traveling..during a pandemic
Firstly, I wouldn't suggest traveling if you can help it. It's insane everything that's happening right now and we want to be able to do our part to keep everyone safe from our loved ones right down to random people that we could come across. Lew, Paisley and I decided to spend our winter in Portland, OR with his family as living in an RV in the winter sounded dreadful and the opportunity came up to spend Christmas here for a couple months so we decided to do a few things to keep us safe. We don't ever go out besides for groceries, always wear a mask and are very un-social during this, so that has helped. We also decided to get covid tests, quarantine, book no-contact stays at airbnbs and drive. We stocked the car up with food for the journey, packed our masks and hand sanitizer and were on our way.
In total we had three stops, though looking back we could've probably done it in three days and only stayed at two stays, but it worked out for the best anyways. Our first stop was in Davenport, Iowa then we traveled and stayed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, then Twin Falls, Idaho (which is where the top picture is taken) and then finally arrived in Portland. In another year when things weren't so bad with covid we probably would've taken time in each city, explored a little, eating some bomb vegan food, but because we were EXTRA cautious this was one of the only stops we made and I'm glad we did. The views were INCREDIBLE! Honestly, I don't know how Lewis can throw me out of an airplane without a fear in the world, or ride roller coasters, but standing above this canyon my heart was RACING. SO what do I do? Decide to sit on the side for a picture. It's good to do things that scare us AND there's a bit of a ledge underneath if I WERE to fall, but it would still scare the shit out of me. ahaha. It's so important though, this whole trip started on a dream to follow who I wanted to really be and to spend my life doing what I really LOVE to do. Challenge yourself a little here and there and you'll find it wasn't really as bad you thought it could be.
Made it to Portland now and enjoying spending time with Lewis' parents and eating the best vegan food ever. Even started working out and taking Paisley and their dog Poppy on walks and the scenery here is STUNNING. Even got to enjoy the BEST vegan ice cream EVER !! Can't wait to really see the hiking and scenery this state has to offer while we are here, because from what I've seen so far.. it's INCREDIBLE!
Xoxo, Jessie
